Our nursing assistant's course is delivered from a training centre created in 1997 with assistance from the Dr Bhanuben Mahendra Nanavati Foundation of Mumbai and the Dutch Government.

Around 10 students sign up for this course every year.

A one-year course, it includes six months of theoretical learning followed by a semester of learning by doing, when students are posted in the hospital wards. This course leads to a Certificate in Nursing Aids.

The minimum qualification for admission to this course is class 10 (matriculation). As it is not a residential course, students need to make their own stay arrangements at Mount Abu.

This invaluable course was launched to give local youth an opportunity to undergo vocational training. A totally 'free' course, it encourages youth to sign up and acquire a skill by offering them a stipend of rupees 150 per month during the first and rupees 500 per month during the second semester.

Students seeking employment after successfully completing this course are absorbed on probation for one year, after which their employment is confirmed subject to a vacancy in the hospital. Many of our successful students have been absorbed in our wards and out-patient clinics.
