Since 1999, we offer a three-year Diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques in association with the Federation of Ophthalmic Research and Education Centres. This course is conducted from both the J Watumull Global Hospital & Research Centreat Mount Abu and the Global Hospital Institute of Ophthalmology at Abu Road.
The course includes two years of teaching and a one year internship, which is done within our hospitals. Students both train in theory and receive exposure to field patient screening and camp organization. The minimum qualification for entrance to this course is 10+2, in the physics-chemistry-biology stream with at least 50% marks.
There are no tuition fees for this course but students are required to deposit rupees 6000 towards books and a partially refundable security. In fact, students receive a stipend of rupees 500 per month in the first year, rupees 600 per month during the second year and rupees 700 per month in the third year.
Students requiring to avail the hospital's boarding and lodging facility are charged rupees 1000 per month. This amount may be partially offset by a student's stipend. The hospital's currently offer only six seats per batch.
