Key sub-sections offer a wide range of diagnostic testing:
Biochemistry: Equipped with semi automated biochemistry analyser, fully automated electrolyte analyser and fully automated blood gas analyser. Routine tests include lipid profiles, liver function tests, cardiac function profiles, etc. Special examinations such as serum calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and uric acid, and hormone profiles are also available.
Clinical Pathology: Conducts routine urine, stool, semen and body fluid analysis.
Haematology: Uses fully automated analyser for complete blood counts as well as a full range of haematology tests.
Microbiology: Performs aerobic, microaerophilic, anaerobic and fungus cultures of all specimens.
Serology: An Elisa reader and automatic Elisa well washer are used to test blood for HIV and Hepatitis B and C. Other serological tests are also available.
Cytology: Offers fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and other examinations of any sample.
Histopathology: Fully equipped with automatic tissue processor, microtome and automated knife sharpener to handle all histopathology examinations.
Blood Bank: The licensed blood bank (RAJ 1874) attached to the pathology laboratory is a life support for accident victims in the hilly terrain in and around Mount Abu. It also serves surgical and anaemia patients. Since the Global Hospital Blood Bank mainly relies on voluntary blood donations, donor motivation is given special attention. Stringent procedures - including the screening of blood donors - ensure compliance with regulations controlling the supply of safe blood. Mandatory reporting procedures are also adhered to.
Consultant pathologist Dr Divyesh Goswami holds an MD in Pathology and sound experienced in haematology, histopathology and cytology, including grossing of surgical specimens and microscopic evaluation of stained tissue sections. Dr Goswami joined the hospital in 2008. Prior to that, he worked for two years as assistant professor in the U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre and for three years as consultant pathologist with the White Cross Blood Bank and Pathology.
Chief lab technologist Jyoti Narang has built up the laboratory services from scratch since joining the hospital in 1991. Jyoti's key focus areas have been the development of protocols and quality control programmes, maintaining high quality standards, ensuring compliance with best practice norms, monitoring productivity and process improvement activities, establishing a safe work environment and coordinating day-to-day activities. She takes a keen interest in staff development, defining job expectations and teaching. Jyoti holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in microbiology, a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and a post-graduate diploma in clinical research. Prior to this position, she worked for three years each with PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, as a microbiology lab technologist and with the Rajwadi Muncipal Hospital, as lab technologist in the biochemistry department.
Blood bank supervisor Sanjeevani Bhandare joined the hosiptal in 1991. She has founded the laboratory blood banking operations, including developing cordial relations supportive groups in Mt Abu and conducting blood donation events. Sanjeevani has a special interest in introducing special tests in blood banking like Direct and Indirect Coomb's Test, ABO and Rh Antibody Titers, ABO incompatibility discrepancies, neonatal cross matching and solving discrepancies in grouping and cross matching. Teaching is another special interest. Prior to this position, she worked as a lab technologist in Deonar Municipal Hospital (Mumbai) and in Krishna Lab (Mumbai). Sanjeevani holds a graduate degree in science, a post-graduate degree in biochemistry and a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Senior lab technologist Jagatjit Mohapatra joined the hospital in 1994. Histopathology and cytology are his main working areas. Jagatjit also enjoys teaching microbiology to graduate nursing students and performing analysis of tests conducted in various sections of the pathology department. He holds a graduate degree in science, a post-graduate degree in microbiology and a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Senior lab technologist Kanta Sharma has been a part of the laboratory since 1997. Haematology is her focus area. Kanta is a a science graduate and holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Senior lab technologist Maya Kharche (Sneha) joined in 2000. She works in microbiology and is also taking part in an Indian Council of Medical Research funded research project. Sneha is a science graduate, a post-graduate in microbiology and holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Lab technician Bharat Sahoo has been working in the lab since 2000. He holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Lab technologist Milan Deskmukh joined the department in 2007. She is a science graduate and holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Lab technologist Mukesh Hans has been working in the lab since 2009. He is a science graduate and holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Lab technician Dinesh Sharma has been working in the lab since 2011. He holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Clinical assistant Rahul Bhamaniya joined in 2011.
Laboratory office assistant Khanter Sah's long innings with the hospital started in 1992.
